The Union government has issued a directive that playing Bollywood songs at marriage ceremonies and related festivities would not invite action over copyright infringement. The effort coms in the action , when several hospitality industries come with pleas.

For several Years , Event planners, hotels, and people organising weddings have been trying in legal battles with copyright corporations demanding that they pay a licence fee for playing copyrighted Bollywood music at such events. However, the requests always violated copyright rules, resulting in needless conflicts and financial difficulties. The Centre government judgement is consistent with the principles outlined in the Copyright Act, guaranteeing that the use of copyrighted music during weddings is permissible under section 52 (1).

In the latest public notice, the department of promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) said it had received multiple complaints from the public and stakeholders regarding the collection of royalty money by copyright societies. This violation comes under section 52 (1)(za) and does not come under the entire section 52 for infringement.
